Be careful.  Keep your distance.  Do not feed.  First and foremost it is illegal to feed bears in the park.  If you feed a bear or leave food out for them you are risking their very lives.  When a bear comes in contact with humans or thought to present a threat they are caught and relocated to another section of the park.  In some cases the bears are destroyed. 

At certain times of the year, Lady Bugs can be in high abundance in the Smokies.  Contrary to some beliefs the National Park Service has never released these beetles in or near Great Smoky Mountain National Park.  These little critters can find the most obscure and minute openings to enter a cabin. Lady Bugs and other native insects have been known to find their way into cabins located in the Great Smoky Mountains. Our cabins are treated for pest control on a regular basis. Occasionally insects could make their way inside. There is no fool proof method of eliminating the possibility they will be inside the cabin at some point during the year.
